Oracle Fusion Donosti - Oracle Fusion in My City

I'm happy to say, my friend from Spain - Rowan (nickname), started her own blog in Spanish. Blog title is Oracle Fusion Donosti, if to translate word donosti from Spanish, it means - my city. Its nice initiative, Oracle is becoming more and more international, with a help from community. I wish, Spanish speaking Oracle users will find it useful and Rowan will keep posting.

On her blog, Rowan will post thoughts from daily work with Oracle, etc. She will post translations of my posts as well (Thank You), there is a first one already translated - JDeveloper 11g - CRUD EN COMPONENTE FORMULARIO.

Spanish Summaries from JDeveloperLA

My colleague from Oracle ACE Director program - Plinio Arbizu, kindly offered to provide summaries in Spanish language for my blog posts. Plinio lives in Lima, Peru and runs JDeveloper focused site in Spanish language - JDeveloperLA. According my blog statistics I can see lots of visitors from Spanish speaking countries, I believe our initiative will be useful.

My last 7 posts are already with summary in Spanish. For new posts, I will add on regular basis.

Oracle JDeveloper/ADF Developers Wanted

In my current Oracle JDeveloper/ADF project we are searching for additional developers. Project is based on Oracle Fusion 11g, so it can be excellent opportunity for you to get experience with a new Oracle JDeveloper/ADF release. However, if you already have knowledge in 11g, it will be only a benefit.

Oracle to acquire BEA

Hey, great news !

Oracle announced today that they are going to acquire BEA Systems. From Oracle Press Release:

Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL) and BEA Systems (NASDAQ: BEAS) announced today they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Oracle will acquire all outstanding shares of BEA for $19.375 per share in cash. The offer is valued at approximately $8.5 billion, or $7.2 billion net of BEA's cash on hand of $1.3 billion.

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison said:

"The addition of BEA products and technology will significantly enhance and extend Oracle's Fusion middleware software suite".

Merry Christmas and Year in Blogosphere

At first, I want to say thanks for all my blog readers. Its almost one year since my first post in blogosphere - Why I'm here? I believe, experience I was sharing during this year, was useful and helpful for readers. Today I want to give some statistics collected during this year.

Blog - http://andrejusb.blogspot.com received 30,558 visits from 140 countries. JDev/ADF Samples list - http://andrejusb-samples.blogspot.com received 12,850 visits. So, in total I have 43,408 visits collected by Google Analytics. ClustrMaps service gives 46,603 for http://andrejusb.blogspot.com and 18,684 for http://andrejusb-samples.blogspot.com respectively. So, truth is somewhere in the middle probably, in any way next year I will try to double those number by providing even more clear and focused samples based on practical cases.

Since I'm not a student anymore, university have closed my account, but I will ask to open it again :).

Master in Computer Science degree

Today I have finished university studies, and received Master in Computer Science degree. Finally..., 6 years of studies are finished :). However, I'll never forget Professor Vigirdas Mackevicius and his Mathematical Analysis course. He is really cool Professor, knowledge and expertise that he have shared with us, first year bachelors, is and will be useful in our everyday life.

I'm not leaving academy, I have received an offer to be assistant lecturer in our faculty - I will teach Oracle/J2EE and IBM/J2EE from 2007 autumn semester for first year Masters.

Spring in Lithuania

During this weekend I was outside of the city. Finally, Spring and hot weather have reached us also. I have captured flowers from Lithuanian forest, seems really nice ;)

Leaving TietoEnator, joining IBM

There are some news from me - I'm leaving TietoEnator and joining IBM. I will work for IBM Global Business Services in J2EE Technical Leader position. My home office will be located in Vilnius, but I'll be traveling a lot - that's cool!

This move will not affect my blogging activity in any way. I'm happy that you like to read my blog, thanks! ;-)

Oracle and snow in Vilnius

Yesterday evening I was walking near Oracle building in Vilnius and have decided to capture it using my mobile phone. You may notice, that from architectural point of view, this building is little bit similar to Oracle HQ in Redwood.


Unfortunately, there are only Oracle's sales people and there is no Oracle development. By the way, we have a lot of snow in Vilnius, this week...

More bandwidth available ;-)

Bandwidth limit problem has been fixed - all samples are moved from Google Pages to Vilnius University, Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics server. In this university I'm achieving my Master in Computer Science degree. Hope, download of all samples will work ok.

So, now I'm searching for a new service provider who will host my sample applications. Sorry for temporal troubles, samples will be available soon.

Why I'm here?

Oracle for me is more then technology, it is a way how I think. So, I'm creating this blog in order to express my knowledge in Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle DB. Since I came into Oracle world through Oracle Spatial technology, I will post about Oracle Spatial as well. I hope, that shared knowledge will be useful.
